Joel almost flunked out of nursery school because he was unable to sit on his carpet square on the floor. Despite this squirminess, which continued during his tenure at Franklin and Marshall College, he graduated Phi Beta Kappa
He is now a Psychiatrist, Certified Laughter Leader, and a professional speaker campaigning to stamp out ADHD (Adult Deficient Humor Disorder). His popular programs are laced with practical information and humor about the physiological, psychological, emotional, behavioral and cognitive benefits of putting more humor and laughter into your work and life. (And, by the way, he still can’t sit still.)
He received his medical degree from Hahnemann University Hospital, and his psychiatric training at the Institute of Living, and Hahnemann University. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Schwartz has been the Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at Abington Memorial Hospital, He is a board certified Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatrist as well as a certified Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychoanalyst. (He has also been a flea circus trainer, a weatherman in Fargo, North Dakota, and a directionally challenged map maker.)
