Andrew Miecznikoski, President of Denovo Life Therapy®, LLC, graduated from Howard County Community College with an Associate’s degree in Human Services and from Frostburg State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Parks Management (concentration in Therapeutic Recreation). He chose Therapeutic Recreation (TR) because he found that the process of systematic play of recreational activities and experiences enhances the individual’s well-being more quickly than traditional means. When applying recreational techniques for a specific purpose of intervening or changing emotional or social behavior, TR along with laughter and music therapies will significantly bring about the changes one desires. Andrew is also a Certified Laughter Leader.
Andrew gained valuable insight while working his way through college at a local hospital and found that the lack of communication and redundancy between departments was very problematic for both the patients and employees. He saw first-hand the waste of resources caused by interdepartmental/intradepartmental miscommunication and the potential for patient harm. Logging in over 2000 volunteer and internship hours provided him with additional insight on how to help management and staff rethink the work environment. Wanting to use his education and life experiences to its full potential; he started Denovo Life Therapy®, LLC.
Denovo Life Therapy workshops help employees and staff to relate, communicate, and open up. Combining goal-oriented exercises and a sense of fun, we offer a variety of activities designed to help people work better together so that they view the workplace not only as a source of income, but also as a place they enjoy being. Too often we become engrossed in technology and tasks, forgetting the human element. Workshop exercises include the following topics:
- Relationship Building
- Communication Enhancement
As a part of the debriefing, participants discuss the underlying processes, perspectives and insights discovered. And, they have fun doing it! Decreasing turnover and improving employee engagement will positively impact your organization’s bottom line.
